Why does my LTI 1.1 external learning tool automatically add a gradebook item even though there is

I am supporting the integration of labs from Vocareum using the LTI 1.1 standard. So far we have used remote plugins to add labs. Our labs are ungraded by design and do not pass back any gradebook data. We want to simply add the content  We have added the tool via Remote plugins as a Quicklink (CIM), then added the tools as an external tool provider. Each time i select the CIM link it automatically adds an assessment item. We want to keep the LTI content and remove the gradebook item. Any advice on how to add LTI content without automatically adding the gradebook item?

    @Sam Biddle​ - Thanks for your patience! I heard back from the Product Manager on your question:

     

    For the legacy LTI 1.1 integration, there is no way to prevent the grade item on our side. If the tool returns a line item, it will be created in the gradebook.For LTI Advantage, we have scopes that can be turned on/off to avoid this.

     

    As a workaround, you should be able to disassociate the grade item from the activity and delete the grade item.
