Anyone familiar with the Assessment options in Content for Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes?

This has been around for a while and the only time I've seen it used is to connect data from a SCORM object to the gradebook. If you bring in a SCORM object and then later decide that you want the score from a quiz inside the object to be sent to Grades, then you could use this feature. Similarly, if you ask the system to create a grade item when you bring in the SCORM object and change your mind about it later, you can disassociate the object from Grades.
I'm interested to hear if others have different use cases for it!

Hi, Meredith.
Thank you for the info! I'll share this back with our admins. An admin from a different campus shared this example:
This is also where some LTI tools link to grade items -- or where a link can be broken. If you just delete a link to a third-party tool, the grade item may linger and D2L support has to delete it. If you change the assessment option in this drop-down to break the link, the grade item can be deleted with no problems.
Best, Amanda
