Link to current documentation for instructors to restore deleted discussion post: https://documentation.brightspace.com/EN/le/discussions/instructor/restore_deleted_discussions.htm?Highlight=restore discussion I don't see a separate config variable that would allow students to delete and restore their own posts (ideal) or for an instructor to restore a post that has been deleted by the student (next best).

Thank you for reaching out. You can allow instructors to restore deleted discussion posts.
You would need to turn on this config variable: d2l.Tools.Discuss.User.ShowDeletedMessages
Then you would need to enable the See Deleted Posts under the Discussions tool in Roles and Permissions for the instructor role at the course offering level.
