Assignment/grade linking - change of behaviour?

I did some testing of that scenario and believe it's a result of the assignment feedback publish status being updated by entering grades in the gradebook. I dug around a little for it and was able to find some documentation on the change that would make this happen: https://community.brightspace.com/s/article/Brightspace-Platform-September-2019-20-19-9-Release-Notes-1875602766
The 20.19.9 release of the platform included an update that would allow assignments and gradebook grades to sync both ways to allow for proper data consistency. As a consequence, grades entered manually in the gradebook are pushed to the assignment tool and set as published since the grade was added to the gradebook itself. This wipes the anonymity in the same way that a regular publish action would.
