Suggestions on how to allow users to test out of a course?

We are preparing to onboard 1000+ users into a course on how to use a tool. We have 2 main groups:Users who have never used the toolUsers who have years of experience in the toolThe final test requires manual grading of a practical exam. We don't want the graders to have to grade 1000+ exams, but we also don't want to just give experienced users a badge without confirming they're experienced. Therefore we're looking for a way to design the course so that users have the ability to "test out" of doing the entire course. Do you have suggestions on how to set up a learner path where users can choose their own adventure between:Completing the entire module, followed by the practical examCompleting a test/survey/something (?) that would either:Confirm their expertise and grant them a badge; orConfirm they do NOT have expertise, and funnel them back into the entire module/practical exam

    In case anyone wants to replicate the scenario above, the solution we came up with included a plethora of release conditions, 3 exams, and 2 versions of the same award:

    1. When the user enters the course, they are presented with 1 module with 1 Knowledge Exam with just 1 question: Do you have more or less than 2 years of experience with this tool?
    • If they chose "More", we gave it a score of 100%
      • We released a module with the test out knowledge exam.
        • If they chose "Less", we gave it a score of 0%.
          • We released the course modules, the knowledge exam, and the practical exam
      • The users get 1 attempt to pass the exam. If they fail, we release the course modules, the knowledge exam, and the practical exam

     

    Adjustments we made along the way:

    • We needed two sets of Awards because there were two ways of passing the course:
      • Award 1: Pass the test out exam
      • Award 2: Pass the knowledge exam AND the Practical Exam
    • The first "what's your experience" level was originally set to have 1 attempt, but we encountered some users who accidentally selected the wrong answer, or doubted their skill level. So we later changed it to allow 2 attempts.

    Hello @Maureen Barrow​ Both options that you have mentioned can work, You can add an Module followed by Exam, Add release condition for Award/Badge to qualify ( exa 80% or above)

     

    Second option directly adding Exam would also be an good option, Both cases you can add release conditions for award , on basis of qualification/passing those criteria user can be awarded as PASS or NOT.
