Conditional release - show Page B = auto-hide Page A?

Options

Hi; I'm trying to create a module that has two conditionally-released pages in it, Page A and Page B. The reason I want to do this is because our courses use conditional release restrictions to hide future materials, and sometimes students miss that key messaging, so when a topic is not released/made visible, they can't find it and have no idea why. My hoped-for solution is to create a page in each module that warns students of the specific conditions they need to meet, but then have that page 'auto-hide' when they meet the conditions. That way, to students, the 'You have not met the conditions' page doesn't 'clutter up' the start or every module.

In this scenario, Page A is a generic 'You have not met the release conditions' page that lets students know the specifics of WHY they can't see Page B - the real module content page. "If you are seeing this page, the main content of this module is still hidden because you need to complete the previous module first. "

Page A has these properties: "Any condition must be met." and these two conditions: "Receives less than 70 % on the quiz: Module 1 Quiz" AND "Has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Module 1 Quiz", so the student will see the item if they have never taken the test OR if they have failed the test.

Page B has the opposite requirement. Is it only visible if the student takes and passes the test: "Receives greater than or equal to 70 % on the quiz: Module 1 Quiz".

This works perfectly when the student PASSES the test. They enter the topic, see Page A, which tells them they must complete the quiz in the previous module, so they take the test, pass, and Page A hides, while Page B is revealed. Nice!

The problem occurs when there are multiple attempts allowed for a quiz and the student fails the quiz before they pass. If this occurs, when the student finally passes, they now see Page B as well, but they also still see Page A - even though neither release condition is still true: "Receives less than 70 % on the quiz: Module 1 Quiz" AND "Has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Module 1 Quiz".

I have tried switching the condition from the quiz to the grade item; I have tried changing the "Overall Grade Calculation" for the Quiz assessment to "Last Attempt" or "Highest Attempt"; I have tried combinations of grade and quiz scoring, but so far have had no luck.

Does anyone know why this doesn't work?

If someone has any insight, or an alternative method of handling this scenario, I'd love to hear it! (I know we could simply state the release requirements on the course page, but if I can get this to work, the solution is flexible, dynamic and requires little effort to implement per course.)

Thanks!
