How to create a Content Module or Topic
To create a Content Module:
-
From the Course Homepage, click Content.
-
Underneath the Table of Contents, enter the module title in Add a Module:

Press the Enter key or click anywhere outside of box to save.
To create a Content Topic:
- Click the Module under Table of Contents.
- Click the Upload/Create button, and select the type of item you wish to make/add.
- Upload Files: Upload file directly into Content.
- Video or Audio: Add video or audio file directly into Content.
- Create a File: Create blank content page which you can add text, links, etc. to.
- Create a Link: Add URL link directly into Content.
- Add from Manage Files: Add file link directly to already existing file in Manage Files.
- Make New Item: Create new dropbox, quiz, etc. and have it link directly in Content.
- Alternatively, you can link existing content (such as a quiz or dropbox folder) by clicking Existing Activities.

How to fix broken links in Content
To fix a broken link in Content:

Go to Content.
-
Locate the broken link you wish to fix:

If it is a direct Quicklink:
-
If the link is within a content item:
-
Click the drop down arrow beside the topic title and click Edit HTML.

Highlight the affected link.
-
Click Insert Quicklink button and edit the link URL:

Once fixed, click Update to save.

How to add a link to a Discussion Topic or Forum in Content
To add a link to a new Discussion Topic or Forum:

Go to Content.
-
Click the module you want to add link to.
-
Click Upload/Create, select New Discussion.

Enter Title for Topic, and topic instructions:
-
Select the Forum topic should be placed under.
-
If needed, click New Forum.
-
Once done, click Publish, or Save as Draft (if necessary).
To add a link to an Existing Discussion Topic or Forum:
-
Go to Content.
-
Click module you want to add link to.
-
Click Add Existing Activities, Discussion option.
-
Click one of the available Forums, and either:
-
Click a topic title to link that specific topic.
-
Click + to make link to the Forum itself.

A link to the Topic or Forum will be added to bottom of items list.
To add a hyperlink to a Discussion Topic or Forum within a content file:
-
Go to Content.
-
Locate the module you want to add the link to.
-
Click the drop down arrow beside the topic title, and select Edit HTML.

In the message box, place the cursor where you want the Discussion link.
-
Click Insert Quicklink, select Discussions, then the Forum and Topic:

Click the pencil icon to right of the Topic title to adjust what the hyperlink text will be, and how the link opens:

Click Update when finished to save your changes.

How to hide a Content Module or Topic
Note: Hiding a Content Module will hide all child Topics under it.
To hide a Content Module:
-
From your Course Homepage, select Content.
-
Click the Module you wish to hide.
-
In the main area, top right side, locate the Published indicator.
-
Click this and select Draft.
-
This will hide the whole module from students, so they cannot see it in the Table of Contents list.

Date restrictions can also be used instead to have this area visible at a predetermined date/time:

To hide a Content Topic:
-
From Course Homepage, select Content.
-
Click the Module containing the item you wish to hide.
-
Locate the relevant Content Topic title, and click the dropdown menu.
-
Click Edit Properties In-place:

On the far right side of the item, locate and click the Published option.
-
Select Draft.
-
This hides the topic from students, so they are unable to see it in module list.

Students are unable to see the Content you posted
If students advise they cannot see Content, review the following settings:
Is the Module/Topic in Draft?
-
From your Course Homepage, select Content.
-
Click the Module users are having issues viewing or contains topic they cannot view.
-
Verify if the item is in Draft:
-
Content Modules: The Draft option will appear in top right of the main area, level with the Module Title.
-
Content Topics: The Draft will appear directly to the right side of the topic title.
-
If the item is in Draft, click Draft and select Published to make it available.
Does the Module/Topic have a Release Condition?
-
From your Course Homepage, select Content.
-
Click the Module users are having issues viewing / contains the topic they cannot view.
-
If the Module or Topic has a Release Condition attached, it will show under the Module or Topic Title:
